1. ABOUT ZENZELE ITERELENG
Zenzele Itereleng NPC is a non-profit company established as part of the Anglo American Platinum’s Project Alchemy initiative. It is a development agency facilitating the building and empowerment of rural communities through strategic social investment, resource mobilization as well as lobbying and advocacy. ZI NPC’s specific mandate is to implement projects in the labour sending areas being the Eastern Cape, Northwest Province, Lesotho and Mozambique.
2. About the ROLE
The purpose of this role is to execute the mandate from the Board of Directors in meeting the strategic objectives of ZI NPC. This role ensures that the responsibilities of the ZI NPC Board relating to the NPC’s strategy are executed on a day to day basis, addressing strategic, tactical and operational deliverables and ensuring compliance with the Memorandum of Incorporation (MOI).
3. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
3.1) Manage interactions between, ZI Board members, Amplats, corporate stakeholders, communities, service providers, and strategic beneficiary partners as appropriate.
3.2) Guide the development and approval of ZI NPC’s governance consisting of systems, policies and procedures, while fostering a strong development-focused culture across projects, engagement and administration.
3.3) Provide oversight on the activities of the Administrator with regard to the management of the NPC’s finances, funds transactions; budgeting, governance, risk management and the secretariat services to the NPC.
3.4) Provide oversight on the activities of the Project Development and Implementation Unit (PDIU) which is mandated to assist in the execution of ZI NPC’s strategy through project identification, project management; project performance monitoring and evaluation and ensuring a return on investment.
3.5) Manage the performance of the Administrator and the project development and implementation unit against agreed key performance indicators.
3.6) Compilation and production of Board packs and communication, including regular programme reports, financial management reports, research reports, and other reports as appropriate. The Operations Manager must ensure that the agenda, actions and deliverables are comprehensively reported on at all Board meetings.
3.7) Actively look for and secure strategic partnerships and drive resource mobilization in order to deliver on ZI NPC’s strategy.
3.8) Serve as the primary external representative of ZI NPC
4. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
4.1) An appropriate undergraduate Degree in Development planning
4.2) An advanced qualification in Project management
4.3) Post graduate degree in social science & SED Business Management qualification would be an advantage
4.4) Extensive first-hand experience (10 -15 years) working in community development, corporate social responsibility, and/or foundation management
4.5) Experience working with Boards, multiple stakeholder groups, including the corporate, government and NGO sectors
4.6) Experience managing complex organizational budgets and finances
4.7) Experience with KPI monitoring and evaluation, and action planning
4.8) Ability to source, influence and deliver donor partner funding and resource mobilization
4.9) Exposure to good corporate governance practice, King III and VI

5.12) Ability and willingness to travel to rural and sometimes challenging, parts of the donor communities
5.13) Valid driver’s license
5.14) Working knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks governing South African trusts strongly preferred
