The overall objectives of the regional Thetha project are to raise awareness and inform a wide range of national, regional and international stakeholders about the expected ICT challenges and opportunities that will face the Southern African region in the next ten years.
The five countries covered by the project (Phase Two, 2008-2009) are Botswana, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Thetha is a Nguni verb meaning talk, discuss, debate and share opinions/ideas.

This research reports looks at various aspects that can bring about an impact on development using the appropriate application of ICT to accelerate or even jumpstart progress. ICTs on their own are not a panacea for economic problems but once properly harnessed and used can easily enhance developmental efforts.
This report presents a situational analysis of ICT4D in Tanzania and aims to establish key priority areas for ICT4D in Tanzania, identify various issues determining the success or failure of ICT4D in Tanzania, and recommend possible measures to be taken to facilitate the progress of ICT4D for the next ten years.
The main focus of this research report is ICT4D issues and their role in tackling social and economic problems in Zimbabwe. It includes an assessment and analysis of the institutional, legislative and regulatory landscape in Zimbabwe in terms of how they support ICT4D.
