Sustainable Housing Still a Problem: Sisulu

Minister Sisulu reiterates that government is building RDP houses for South African citizens and not just for foreign nationals

Human Settlements Minister, Lindiwe Sisulu, has reiterated that government is building RDP houses for South African citizens and not just for foreign nationals.

Sisulu says housing in South Africa has caused many problems over the years and this been worsened by foreign nationals coming into South Africa and buying RDP houses that are meant for South African citizens at a fraction of the price.

Sisulu, who states that her department is currently looking at ways to rectify this problem, adds that, “We would like to find a mechanism of how we can cater for people who are here in South Africa but are not South African citizens either through their employers or through rental stock."
