Right2Know’s 3rd National Summit Report 2013

Right2Know, a NGO coordinating, unifying, organising and activate those who share its principles to defend and advance the right to know, struggling both for the widest possible recognition in law and policy of the right to know and for its implementation and practice in daily life, among others, held its 3rd National Summit from 15-17 March 2013 in Durban. The summit resolved that; the existing provisions for access to information (such as Promotion of Access to Information Act) are not enough to ensure that information is provided readily, in a format that is useful and that can be used strategically for our struggles, and that the means to receive, impart and share information is crucial to the right to know, by ensuring that information flows across society, deepening our democracy and advancing social, economic, and ecological justice.
