Monitoring Immigration Detention in South Africa
Wednesday, November 26, 2008 - 12:24
Monitoring Immigration Detention in South Africa – 2008 is a report that highlights serious human rights concerns in South Africa's immigration detention facilities, in particular the private operated Lindela facility and the Musina detention centre operated by the South African Police Service. Authored by the Lawyers for Human Rights’ Refugee and Migrant Rights Programme, the report argues that the misplaced focus of the legal framework and lack of capacity, training and corruption, have made immigration enforcement in the country a spectacular failure and a source of great human rights violations.
