HIV-Related Stigma, Discrimination and Human Rights Violations

Thursday, January 15, 2009 - 09:02

HIV-Related Stigma, Discrimination and Human Rights Violations: Case Studies of Successful Programmes examines HIV-related stigma, discrimination and human rights violations through programme case studies. The publication provides examples of three approaches: stigma-reduction approaches, which tend to be part of community-based or community-focused HIV and AIDS prevention and care programmes; specific antidiscrimination measures, which focus on initiatives in institutional settings; and redress mechanisms, which use legal means to challenge discrimination against people living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA) as well as promoting their human rights.
