With an increasing need for everyone to play their part in the social and community development of South Africa, non-profit organization, Afrika Tikkun, recently launched an exciting new campaign called Adventure Fundraisers, where the aim is making charity more fun, rewarding and accessible for individuals and groups.
Afrika Tikkun is an established NGO with a strong belief that every young person has the potential to change the world. However, not all young people are given equal opportunity to be able to make a difference. Focused on developing young people from 'Cradle to Career', Afrika Tikkun support over 12 000 individual beneficiaries in South Africa across their developmental cycle, from early childhood development through to job placement, in order to give them the best start in life and help them become tomorrow’s productive citizens.
Onyi Nwaneri, Director of Partnerships of Afrika Tikkun explains; "From very small beginnings we have grown exponentially based on the reputability and success of our model. Not only do we sponsor around 12 000 beneficiaries each year, we now employ over 500 locally trained employees in five different communities in South Africa's Gauteng and Western Cape provinces. Our focus is the 360 development of young people across every stage of their development until they are able to access the economy in the form of employment or self-employment, and we’ve seen really great results over the years."
Enter #AdventureFundraisers, a digital ‘fun-raising’ campaign aimed at South African residents who are looking for a charity beneficiary to support as part of their individual or group mission. “We wanted to create a new narrative in a South African fundraising campaign which speaks to the fun loving and adventurous amongst us. Adventure Fundraisers has been designed with convenience in mind, ensuring the act of giving online is seamless and enjoyable, bearing in mind the busy lifestyles of our campaigners” says Nwaneri. This new digital campaign seeks to harness and support the fundraising efforts of active citizens and companies by putting the power in the hands of the campaigner.
Nwaneri continues; "The #AdventureFundraisers initiative was created to supplement our fundraising efforts so that we can do more good in the region and to give all South Africans the chance to do the same. With adventure fundraising in partnership with Afrika Tikkun, your very own personal or company adventure can change lives. Are you planning on climbing Kilimanjaro, running a marathon, cycling across the country, or losing 20kgs with boot camp? It is possible to make a difference in your community just by setting a goal and inviting your community to support your fundraising efforts!"
