Some 200 representatives of non-profit organisations (NPOs) and civil society bodies gathered at the Woodstock, Cape Town offices of Inyathelo (The South African Institute for Advancement) on Wednesday 17 October to hear experts present on a variety of topics concerning the good management and sustainability of NPOs.
Coordinator of the event, Felicity Weekes from CMDS accounting services for the non-profit sector, said: “The NPO Service Providers’ Network (NPO SPN), based in Cape Town, offers an annual one day free skills-sharing event, called #ThinkGood. It gives non-profit practitioners the opportunity to learn about a range of vital issues, such as leadership, governance, financial management, HR, IT and branding.
“NPO SPN members offer their expertise and advice sessions at no cost as their contribution to International Mandela Day (18 July). The #ThinkGood event is held later in the year so that non-profits who have their own Mandela Day activities can plan for, and take part in, #ThinkGood.”
Inyathelo Executive Director Jessica Rees-Jones said: “Inyathelo is fortunate enough to own its own premises, funded by Atlantic Philanthropies. We were delighted to host this event. Our hub was buzzing with people and it was a great opportunity to network and share expert lessons and learnings.”
