Western Cape Network on Violence against Women
The Western Cape Network on Violence Against Women (WCNOVAW) is a strong, united body which coordinates and integrates organisations and individuals through advocacy, public awareness, training and support with a developmental approach in order to progressively realize women’s right to a life free from all forms of violence.
WCNOVAW seeks to appoint a Technical Advisor, based in Mowbray, Cape Town.
The experienced HIV technical and strategic advisor shall have high-level problem-solving and decision-making skills, quality assurance, and continuing education in the context of an on-going relationship with SANACWS member organisations, partners in government departments, broader stakeholders and development partners.
The Advisor should guide the programme Officer through five stages:
- Building relationships;
- Identifying areas for improvement;
- Responsive coaching and modelling of best practices;
- Advocating for a women’s centred HIV response and
- Collecting and reporting data.
As the SANACWS Secretariat’s role is a dynamic one and its mission undertaken in resource-challenged settings, this position requires flexibility, ability to work effectively in an evolving policy environment, facility in coordinating disparate stakeholders, and ability to cope with rapid change of direction.
- Monitoring and evaluation;
- Strategic and operational planning;
- Costing and budgeting;
- Partnership development;
- Women’s rights and equality;
- Women’s Centred HIV and AIDS Advocacy (will be weighted greatly);
- Good mentoring skills.
Preference will be given to female applicants.
