South to South seeks to appoint an Adherence and Psychosocial Advisor, based in Bellville, Western Cape.

The successful candidate will be a member of the South to South Programme technical team and will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide site support for the implementation, improvement and expansion of family-centred HIV services. The incumbent will be expected to provide consistent and high-quality support to the different programme interventions in his/her technical area.
This position is in the programme implementation capacity - not in the research or academic capacity.
This is a one-year contract position with possibility of extension.
Responsibilities:
- Assess counselling, psychosocial, treatment literacy and adherence support of services provided at designated sites;
- Contribute to the development of an overall psychosocial/adherence strategy through supporting, co-ordinating and/or supervising implementation thereof;
- Provid training in aspects of HIV care relevant to the position;
- Supporting the evaluation of and assisting in the development of data collection and management materials, developed and used for counselling and adherence purposes;
- Assist/advise with regard to the development of guidelines, educational materials and other useful resources;
- Provide technical assistance on aspects relating to counselling, psychosocial support and adherence strategies;
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Qualification as a social worker with special interest in public health/paediatric and/or community care;
- Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions or the Health Professions Council of South Africa;
- Minimum of three years’ experience in area of certification, with at least three years’ experience in paediatric HIV and/or PMTCT programmes at facility level;
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships in a challenging environment;
- Ability to multitask and be efficient in high-pressure situations;
- Ability to absorb and synthesise a broad range of information;
- Ability to relate and work well with colleagues;
- Strong written and spoken command of English and one other official language, preferably an African language;
- High level of proficiency in relevant computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office;
- Willingness and availability to travel 40% of the time;
- Experience in HIV/AIDS care and treatment, especially adherence will be an advantage.
