The national bursary agency Studietrust (NPO 000-601) has two vacancies at its Johannesburg office. Studietrust (est. 1974) fights poverty, ignorance and exploitation by making educational opportunities available to young persons with the academic potential but without the financial means.
1. Project Coordinator:  Johannesburg, Gauteng

Opportunity type: Contract Employment

Studietrust seeks to appoint a student support and mentor programme coordinator to work from its head office in Braamfontein, Johannesburg. The successful candidate will report to the Projects Manager, working as a member of a mentoring team and liaise with donors, financial aid offices at educational institutions and bursars. S/he will have proven coordination, project management, IT & people skills, a thorough knowledge of the higher education environment (gained through personal experience), a passion for helping young people realise their potential and excellent interpersonal skills.
 
Main Duties:
  • Co-ordinate the planning and implementation of a student support and mentoring  project
  • Design & evaluate support and mentoring interventions for b bursary beneficiaries
  • Define project tasks and resource requirements
  • Develop full scale project plans
  • Plan and schedule project timelines & ensure adherence & intervention where needed
  • Track project deliverables using appropriate tools in collaboration with team members
  • Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to the Projects Manager and regularly prepare detailed reports to donors and partners
  • Implement project changes and interventions agreed with the Projects Manager to achieve project outputs
  • Develop and maintain a detailed project schedule which includes administrative tasks and regular visits to all sites involved in the project.
  • Participate in team meetings.
  • Co-ordinate meetings & interactions with students. Manage the project budget in liaison with the Operations Manager.
Requirements:
  • Relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Advanced computer skills: Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Well organised/disciplined/self-motivated/professional and mature.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proven record of being able to work in a team.
  • Proven record of having good interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience in people management.
  • Proven experience working with youth.
  • Proficiency in African languages will be an added advantage.
  • Valid driver's license will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in higher education support programmes will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in working in the South African Education and NGO sector will be an added Advantage.

2. Project Administrator:  Johannesburg, Gauteng

S/he will have proven administrative and IT skills, a thorough knowledge of the higher education environment (preferably gained through personal experience), a passion for helping young people realise their potential and excellent interpersonal skills.
 
Main Duties:
  • Maintenance of student files & database, ensuring data integrity.
  • Verification of student documentation (ID, etc.).
  • Handle student queries & follow-ups.
  • Follow up on & administer academic progress data of bursars.
  • Compilation and presentation of regular reports to donors.
  • Handle student queries & follow-ups.
  • Refer & track financial queries to Donor
  • Arrange and book campus visits (students and institutions).
  • Monthly telephonic contact with bursary beneficiaries.
  • Maintaining the digital bursary filing system
  • Data capture and the updating of the Studietrust data-base.
Requirements:
