The South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) is an independent, non-governmental international affairs think-tank. SAIIA seeks to make the following appointments:
 
Project Officer: APRM and Governance (Johannesburg)

SAIIA seeks to appoint a Project Officer for its Governance and African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Programme. Knowledge of Africa’s governance challenges is a pre-requisite, while knowledge of the APRM would be an advantage.
 
The candidate should have a minimum of an Honours degree with experience in a policy research, donor or NGO environment. Excellent writing, research, reporting, organisational, financial, administrative, time-management and computer skills as well as own transport are essential. The position, based at SAIIA’s Head Office in Johannesburg, may involve travel within Africa. French or Portuguese language skills are an advantage. The appointment is for an initial one-year period, with the possibility of a two-year extension.
 
Office Manager/Project Officer (Cape Town)

SAIIA’s long-standing programme on the governance of Africa’s resources based in its regional office in Cape Town wishes to fill an Office Manager/Project Officer position on its research team. The programme focuses on the intersection between governance and the sustainable management of Africa’s resources and covers four resource sectors, i.e. oil, mining, fisheries and forestry.

Candidates should have a minimum of an undergraduate degree but preferably Honours, with extensive experience in a general project management, business, financial or administrative environment. Experience in a donor/NGO environment would be an advantage. Very strong financial (excel), verbal, written and organisational skills are essential, as is experience with M&E tracking processes and own transport.
