Peace Parks Foundation is a nonprofit organisation that has virtually all the powers of a normal company, but cannot have shareholders, and no profits can be paid to supporting members or directors. 

Peace Parks Foundation facilitates the establishment of transfrontier conservation areas (peace parks) and develops human resources, thereby supporting sustainable economic development, the conservation of biodiversity and regional peace and stability.

Peace Parks Foundation seeks to appoint a Senior Fundraiser, based in Stellenbosch, Western Cape.

This is a three-year term contract position.
 
Responsibilities:  

  • Securing funds from undedicated and dedicated income streams: global and local Trusts, Private and Public Foundations, Corporations, International NGOs and Aid Agencies;
  • Special focus will also be placed on researching international markets in the USA, Canada and Germany as potential new markets;
  • The focus will also include servicing the Foundation’s general budget shortfalls, while securing income possibilities for the Foundation’s capital fund as part of a business development strategy;
  • Thematic areas within projects and programmes will also be investigated while proposals will be aligned with the latest thinking.  

Give strategic input into the overall fund development programme, specifically focus on: 

  • Research;
  • Conceptualising;
  • Refining

Draft specific funding proposals to attract undedicated and dedicated funding 

  • Write up tailored funding proposals;
  • Establish communication channels with programmes and projects;
  • Ensure projects information is up to date;
  • Ask for comments from relevant managers, coordinators and consultants;
  • Edit documents;
  • Get approval and sign off fundraising proposals from Managers and/or CEO.

Secure funding 

  • Examine the Foundation’s prospect pool;
  • Conduct gap analyses;
  • Present more major and principal gift opportunities in both local and global markets;
  • Develop and nurture relationships, in association with management, with key stakeholders (Business, Trusts and Foundations) on behalf of the Foundation;
  • Investigate new ways of giving e.g. on line giving linked to interactive funder communications.

Identification and Cultivation of Prospective Donors; New potential memberships: Club 21, Corporate and Individual 

  • Research;
  • Discuss and forward suitable prospects;
  • Build relationships;
  • Follow up with fundraising / donor material.

 To draft specific joint funding proposals to attract project funding: 

  • Write up tailored funding proposals in consultation with director;
  • Establish communication channels with programmes and projects;
  • Ensure projects information is up to date;
  • Ask for comments from relevant managers, coordinators and consultants;
  • Edit documents;
  • Get approval and sign off fundraising proposals from Managers and/or CEO.

Requirements: 

  • Minimum of six years experience in fundraising, grant writing, CSI or related fields;
  • Be passionate about conservation and people;
  • Ability to work under pressure and honour deadlines;
  • Have superb writings skills and excellent command of English;
  • Valid driver’s licence.

A competitive salary package will be negotiated, based on qualifications and experience.
