Marie Stopes South Africa: Non-Executive Directors - Advisory Board

Marie Stopes South Africa (MSSA) is a NGO that works to prevent unwanted births and to afford women the right to have children by choice not by chance. MSSA is part of the Marie Stopes International Global Partnership.

MSSA’s mission is to advocate for Children by Choice not Chance, through the empowerment and upliftment of women. As leading social entrepreneurs, the organisation seeks to gain further impact on decreasing maternal and infant mortality through the extension and integration of our services to the underserved.

MSSA seeks to appoint Non-Executive Directors - Advisory Board, based in Cape Town.

They are expected to be technical experts and will play a strategic advisory role on MSSA’s Board, with the line management of the Country Director delegated to the East African Regional Director.

There are three portfolios vacant:

• Medico legal technical expert;
• Sexual and reproductive health rights technical and policy expert;
• External relations advocate.

Requirements:

• Understand and relate to the vision and mission of Marie Stopes and act in the best interests of the organisation;
• Interest and commitment to sexual and reproductive health rights and services;
• Pro-choice and gender equitable bias;
• Connected with the SRHR and HIV sector and the policy framework guiding the sector;
• Knowledge of the South Africa context;
• Ability and willingness to fulfil fiduciary duties in line with Section 21 Governance, Companies Act and Kings III;
• Attend two meetings and an AGM per year (travel cost will be covered).
