Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is an international humanitarian medical aid organisation, established in 1971. MSF provides assistance to populations in distress, including victims of natural disasters, wars, conflicts, epidemics, among others. MSF members include medical, paramedical, technical and logistical, financial, administrative employees who carry out humanitarian assistance activities in the field.

MSF South Africa was established in November 2006. MSF is an entity rooted in an African society known for uncompromising advocacy and effective social mobilisation could harness this energy - along with medical expertise, and international communications capacity - to both add value at the operational level of emergency medical and humanitarian assistance and bring a new, fresh voice to the governance/associative level of MSF. Since then the office has contributed substantially to MSF activities.

MSF South Africa is currently running a fundraising campaign which generates SMS donations to the organisation.

MSF South Africa seeks to appoint a Telemarketer, based in Johannesburg.

S/he will be expected to convert existing donors into regular direct debit donors over the telephone, and to reactivate lapsed donors. S/he will also have the opportunity, through working in the office, to learn about MSF's international programmes and the role that MSF-SA plays in the MSF movement.

S/he will report to the Head of Fundraising.

This is a part-time, three-month renewable contract.

Responsibilities:

• Make conversion and reactivation calls to existing MSF donors;
• Make calls to fill in incomplete donation forms;
• Record all contacts/information in MSF database;
• General fundraising administrative tasks.

Requirements:

• Successful telemarketing experience;
• Presentation skills and professional phone image;
• Interest in humanitarian issues and sharing of MSF values;
• Communicative, reliable and thorough;
• Ability to generate reliable statistics, documentation and progress reports;
• Fluency in English;
• Experience and understanding of private fundraising;
• Knowledge of direct marketing;
• Experience with the use of different database.
