Legal Resources Centre: Database Volunteer

The Legal Resources Centre (LRC) is committed to a fully democratic society based on the principle of substantive equality and to ensure that the principles, rights, and responsibilities enshrined in the national Constitution are respected, promoted, protected and fulfilled.

The LRC seeks to appoint a Database Volunteer, based in Johannesburg.

S/he will work in the Advancement Unit and will update the fundraising and the Raiser’s Edge databases.

This is an unpaid volunteering opportunity that requires a commitment of six months full-time or part-time.  A monthly stipend will be provided to cover travel and lunch expenses.

A full training on how to use the Raiser’s Edge database will be provided. 

Responsibilities:

• Enter a range of data accurately on to the Raiser’s Edge database relating to LRC’s current, potential and lapsed donors (organisations and individuals).  This will involve following LRC’s data entry and database protocol and procedures;
• Review and organise the paper-based and electronic filing system for recording interaction with donors;
• Identify from historical records potential donors to re-approach for funding.

Requirements:

• Experience of working with databases, and preferably fundraising databases such as the Raiser’s Edge;
• Attention to detail;
• Computer literacy;
• Ability to learn new skills and absorb information;
• English writing and summarising skills;
• Organised and ability to think  systematically;
• Meticulous and committed to accuracy;
• Work well within a team;
• Knowledge and experience of fundraising for NGOs in South Africa.
