The Legal Resources Centre (LRC) is an independent, client-based, nonprofit public interest law clinic, which uses law as an instrument of justice. The LRC works for the development of a fully democratic society based on the principle of substantive equality, by providing free legal services for the vulnerable and marginalised, including the poor, homeless, and landless people and communities who suffer discrimination by reason of race, class, gender, disability or by reason of social, economic and historical circumstances.

The LRC seeks to appoint an Advocate for the Constitutional Litigation Unit (CLU), based in Johannesburg.

Requirements:

  • Admission as member of the Johannesburg Bar;
  • Demonstrated interest in constitutional or public interest litigation;
  • Proactive attitude, with enthusiasm for the LRC’s mission and vision, preferably on a full-time basis
  • Preferred qualifications and experiences
  • Postgraduate degree in law or a field relevant to the CLU’s practice;
  • Publication of articles on constitutional or public law issues;
  • Evidence of strong drafting skills.

The LRC is committed to transformation; applications from previously disadvantaged candidates are therefore strongly encouraged.

To apply, submit a CV, copies of qualifications, contact details of two contactable referees and motivation letter to madile@lrc.org.za. Specify the position for which you are applying.
