The Nonprofit Network is an online resource centre assisting nonprofit organisations in using social media, websites and e-newsletters; particularly organisations based in South Africa.
Used well, social media can help an NGO make a maximum impact with minimal effort. You can teach your constituency about your cause, volunteering, contributing funds, or promoting your work to their own networks. The Nonprofit Network website provides a collection of simple and easy-to-follow guides designed to help you achieve success with your online communications, and turn your constituency into a following.
For those already using social media, more advanced guides will be available soon, along with interesting and instructive case studies from online media campaigns used by South African nonprofits.
In addition, we will be releasing 3 free e-books over the course of this year (2013), focusing on Websites, Social Media and Newsletters, and how to effectively use these channels for advocacy, rights education and fundraising. These will be available on our website, and you can sign up for our newsletter to be kept informed of when they are released.
The site has been made possible by the Open Society Foundation's Public Health Programme: Health Media Initiative to assist their grantees with the web and social media aspects of their work.
