Jazzart Dance Theatre: Marketing Officer

Jazzart Dance Theatre is a Cape Town based NGO, contemporary African dance company rooted in a deep and reflective understanding of the world.  Jazzart creates and mounts world class innovative performances that reflect the ever-changing social environment of South Africa and provides a three-year training programme as well as other outreach initiatives.

Jazzart Dance Theatre seeks to appoint a Marketing Officer, based in Cape Town.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a marketing strategy;
• Market all Jazzart productions and selected programmes, projects and events;
• Develop promotional and public relations materials (brochures, posters, annual reports);
• Maintain the website and our presence on social networking platforms (Facebook, Twitter);
• Plan and implement public relations events;
• Develop good working relations with the media;
• Set up interviews and drafting press releases, speeches and articles;
• Assist with the production of visual (film or video) and audio electronic material; and
• Manage the marketing and public relations budget.

Requirements:

• Degree in marketing or public relations;
• Minimum of five years experience and track record of success in marketing, public relations or communications of which at least two years must have been in the non-profit sector;
• Experienced and skills in using multiple marketing channels (television, print and digital);
• Experienced and skills in using social media as marketing tools;
• Written and verbal communication skills;
• Ability to communicate clearly to varied groups of people;
• Fluency in English;
• Excellent presentation skills;
• Computer literacy in the Microsoft Office suite;
• Positive, hard-working and proactive;
• Persuasive with ability to foster and grow relationships;
• Management skills (time, resources, programming and budgeting); and
• Ability to work independently.

Prior experience in the arts sector may be an advantage but is not essential.

Salary: R12 000 – R14 000 per month, total cost to company inclusive of medical aid and provident fund.
