Jazzart Dance Theatre: Fundraiser

Jazzart Dance Theatre is a Cape Town based NGO, contemporary African dance company rooted in a deep and reflective understanding of the world.  Jazzart creates and mounts world class innovative performances that reflect the ever-changing social environment of South Africa and provides a three-year training programme as well as other outreach initiatives.

Jazzart Dance Theatre seeks to appoint a Fundraiser, based in Cape Town.

S/he will contribute to the organisation's sustainability by diversifying and expanding Jazzart’s funding and resources. 

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement a fundraising strategy and plan;
• Secure grants from diverse local, national and international agencies (including drafting proposals);
• Monitor the external environment and identify new fundraising opportunities;
• Maintain a donor database;
• Manage donor relationships and ensure compliance with individual donor requirements;
• Generate and submit progress reports to donors;
• Assist with marketing and public relations activities; and
• Manage the fundraising budget.

Requirements:

• Minimum of five years experience and a track record in fundraising;
• Experience in writing funding applications and reports;
• Experience of donor management, engagement with international donor agencies, and managing private giving campaigns;
• Thorough knowledge of the South African fundraising environment, especially for the arts sector;
• Ability to track fundraising efforts, and provide data and analysis regarding the efficacy of campaigns and proposals;
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office suite;
• Excellent management skills (time, administrative, resources, financial, programming and budgeting);
• Communication (written and verbal) and report writing skills;
• Positive, hard-working and detail-oriented;
• Ability to foster and grow relationships;
• Fluency in English; and
• Ability to work independently.

Salary: R20 000 - R25 000 per month, total cost to company inclusive of medical aid and provident fund.
