James House Child and Youth Care Centre
ames House Child and Youth Care Centre is an innovative, professional, and responsive child and youth care organisation offering services across the whole continuum of care in the child and youth care sector. With its range of child protection, youth development and empowerment programmes. James House reaches over 600 vulnerable children, young people, and their families from the Imizamo Yethu and Hangberg communities of Hout Bay, Cape Town every year. The organisation runs two pioneering residential treatment centres for adolescents, age 14 - 16, with frequent challenging behaviour.
James House seeks to appoint Relief Child and Youth Care Workers for both the girls (Plumstead) and boys (Hout Bay) programmes.
The successful candidates will support the current staff team. Working with teenagers with challenging behaviour is demanding, both physically and emotionally. The organisation is looking for male and female candidates who are not only highly motivated and dedicated to the work we do, but who are also excellent team players and communicators. Successful candidates will be able to provide clear and consistent boundaries to our teenagers, while also developing warm and nurturing relationships.
Relief workers are required to work day and/or night shifts, depending on their availability. James House understands that relief workers may have other commitments. Relief workers have access to the same training, supervision and development opportunities as our permanent staff.
