We engage in cutting edge research, knowledge sharing and dialogue facilitation, institutional support, advocacy and network politics to support urban development and transformation.

Isandla Institute seeks to fill the following positions:
Key job responsibilities:

  • Support the Executive Director to implement and maintain operational systems;
  • Financial management, including design and maintenance of financial systems, policies and controls, budget preparation and reporting;
  • Human resource management and administration;
  • Management and supervision of administration team;
  • Organisational compliance with legal and regulatory requirements;
  • Contract management.

Key competency requirements:

  • Financial management degree and a human resource training background or equivalent;
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in financial and/or operational management, preferably in an NGO sector;
  • High level of computer literacy;
  • Minimum of three years’ experience with regard to organisational systems;
  • Experience in contract management;
  • Experience in conducting negotiations, liaising and managing relations with funders, clients, service providers and contract workers;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to independently plan, manage, work under pressure and meet strict deadlines;
  • Ability to think conceptually, analytically and strategically;
  • Good decision making and problem solving skills;
  • Ability to lead and manage teams and foster teamwork.

A flexible working arrangement (no less than 80%) may be negotiated, depending on experience, organisational requirements and personal availability.

Key job responsibilities:

  • Provide logistical support to organisational events;
  • Reception duties and administration (e.g. record keeping, filing, maintain contact database);
  • Facilitate regular website updates and newsletter dissemination.

Key competency requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate;
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Excel and Word;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Ability to self-organise, work under pressure and meet strict deadlines;
  • Ability to give attention to details and be systematic;
  • Good problem solving skills;
  • Ability to work as part of a team, be responsive and flexible.
