The Institute for Youth Development of South Africa (IYDSA) in support of the South African Department of Health in achieving its goals for the scale up of quality services for the management of HIV/AIDS in the Primary Health Care sector has a vacancy for a suitable qualified and experienced persons for positions in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). The job incumbent will be based in Sisonke District (KZN). Remuneration package will be market related and based on experience plus competitive employment benefits.

  1. Clinical Advisor (Medical doctor)

Key Performance Areas:

  • Provide technical assistance and support to healthcare facilities supported by IYDSA in implementing HIV and AIDS care and ARV services;
  • Provide site clinical training and mentorship on HIV and AIDS management;
  • Provide support and in-service training to nurse mentors;
  • Facilitate and actively support MDTs;
  • Provide regular monitoring and evaluation (M&E) reports to the Clinical Manager;
  • Ensure correct patient management and review clinical decisions while strengthing expertise among healthcare professionals for sustainable antiretroviral therapy;
  • Develop strong linkages within CCMT.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Qualifications in MBCHB;
  • Current registration with HPCSA.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years working experience in HIV treatment including TB/HIV integration;
  • Knowledge of government guidelines and protocols for HIV and AIDS management;
  • Flexibility to work at a number of geographical dispersed sites;
  • A valid driver’s license.

Skills Requirements / Competencies:

  • Experience in training, clinical mentoring and supervision;
  • Skills in programme management including institutional capacity building and systems development;
  • Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills;
  • Computer competency;
  • Willingness to travel between facilities;
  • Team player.

2. Nurse Mentors x3
 
Key Performance Areas:

  • Provide direct clinical training and mentoring to government PHC care workers on HIV and AIDS prevention, care, treatment and support services;
  • Identify training needs and coordinate training with Nurse Mentor Managers and government partners;
  • Working with M&E team, assist in monitoring and evaluation of the Care and Treatment Programme;
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports on activities to the Nurse Mentor Manager;
  • Work alongside local nurses and supervise local treatment teams and teach and share best practices in HIV/AIDS management.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Professional Nurse Qualification;
  • Diploma / Certificate in primary healthcare or B Cur degree will be an added advantage;
  • Current registration with SANC.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 2 years working experience in HIV and TB  treatment environment;
  • NIMART trained;
  • Driver’s license;
  • Qualified in mentoring.

Skills Requirements / Competencies:

  • Good communication skills;
  • Report writing skills and interpersonal skills;
  • Computer competency;
  • Presentation / Facilitation skills;
  • Willingness to travel between facilities;
  • Team player.

3. Technical Advisors - Pharmacy
 
Key Performance Areas:

  • Offer technical Support to the Mentoring team;
  • Drug supply management at District level including setting up of control systems;
  • Ensuring compliance to pharmacy legislation and Good Pharmacy Practice;
  • Monitoring and reporting on pharmacovigilance, pharmaco surveillance and programme indicators;
  • Tutoring and coaching of Pharmacist Assistants;
  • Programme evaluation.

Educational Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy;
  • Current registration with Pharmacy Society of SA.

Experience Required:

  •  Working experience in HIV/AIDS environment;
  •  Work experience in hospital / clinic environment.

  • Good communication skills;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Customer focus;
  • Team spirit.
