Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR)
The Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR) was launched in 2000 in the aftermath of South Africa´s Truth and Reconciliation Commission. IJR cultivates the potential for reconciliation and socio-economic justice in Africa through strategic partnerships and carefully constructed interventions.
The Institute for Justice and Reconciliation's Building an Inclusive Society Programme seeks to recruit a dynamic individual as Intern, based in Cape Town with possible traveling.
The person will work on writing up of workshop experiences and community stories, logistical arrangements for events, communication and information, facilitating interventions and working on a legacy project (in consultation with programme manager).
- Masters in Social Sciences or related area;
- Interpersonal skills;
- Computer literacy;
- Knowledge how to operate audio-visual gadgets;
- Good communication skills;
- Understanding of grassroots communities in South Africa;
- Good writing skills;
- Fluent in minimum of two of the three official languages in the Western Cape (Afrikaans, isiXhosa, English);
- Confident and time conscious;
- Aware of socio-political issues in South Africa;
- Pro-active, responsible and accountable.
Starting date: 14 January 2013 until end of December 2013. This is a 36 hours per week Internship.
Salary: R4 500 per month.
This position will only be offered to South African nationals or candidates with permanent residence status in South Africa.
This is a volunteer internship without any remuneration. The successful intern will be expected to complete a volunteer agreement with the Institute.
