Idasa is an African Democracy Institute, building sustainable democratic societies in collaboration with African and global partners. Having made a significant contribution to the South African transition to democracy since its founding in 1987, Idasa has developed an increasingly pan-African programme, using its approach of constructive politics to support democrats and democracy throughout the African continent and further afield.
Idasa seeks to appoint an Executive Director, based in the City of Tshwane / Pretoria region.
Idasa has undergone significant restructuring in recent years, based on a carefully focussed strategic planning process. With specialist staff teams in each area of work, the incoming Executive Director will bring a proven record of achievement and fresh insights to lead the diverse Idasa team towards the challenges of democratic governance and development in Africa.
The preferred candidate will have a record of active commitment to democracy and development in Africa, through:
- Building partnerships and coalitions;
- Energy, self-motivation, with flexibility and tenacity in achieving results;
- Leading and motivating cost-efficient change programmes; and
- Effective management skills, underpinned by strong social commitment.
