Greenpeace is a non-governmental environmental organisation that works to ensure that the earth has the ability to nurture life in all its diversity. The organisation focuses its work on worldwide issues such as global warming, deforestation, overfishing, commercial whaling and anti-nuclear issues.

Greenpeace Africa seeks to appoint a Human Resource (HR) Officer, based in Johannesburg.

The HR Officer will be responsible for providing overall HR support to other units and various human resources functions, which will include recruitment and selection, staffing, training and development, performance management, and employee wellness, health and safety. S/he will implement strategic aspects as well as administrative of the Human Resource functions. S/he will monitor and ensure development of HR administration, process and policies for Greenpeace Africa.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing and coordinating recruitment process;
  • Will be responsible of coordinating HR data and documents;
  • Assist in ensuring that Greenpeace meets statutory/labour legislation requirements;
  • Develop and implement performance management system;
  • Assist in developing and implementing Human Resource policies and procedures;
  • Make sure that Greenpeace Africa staff adheres to policies and procedures;
  • Assist line managers with disciplinary actions/ hearing;
  • Assist in conducting Human Resource workshops.

Requirements: 

  • Grade 12;
  • Minimum of three year qualification/national diploma in human resource management;
  • Minimum of two years experience as Human Resource Officer;
  • Good communication skill;
  • Knowledge of labour legislations of the country;
  • Knowledge and experience in training and development;
  • Experience in dealing with employee labour relations;
  • Experience in NGO sector will be an advantage;
  • Know how to deal with diversity;
  • Knowledge sharing;
  • Professionalism at all times;
  • Knowledge of NGO sector;
  • Planning and organising;
  • Good communication skill written verbal;
  • Ability to interact at all levels;
  • Good computer skills/ Microsoft Windows packages (including Power Point and e-mail);
  • Time management skills;
  • Attention to detail;

Greenpeace offers market related salary.
