Girls & Football SA encourages girls in South Africa to play football as a source of empowerment, while promoting body ownership, increasing self-esteem and using an education campaign and media to raise awareness on the importance of sport for women.

Girls & Football SA seeks to appoint a Project Manager, based in Cape Town.

Responsibilities:

The GFSA project manager is responsible for: 

  • The planning and implementation of the Girls Only Football Workshops, and with that the responsibility over the workshop participants (aged 10 - 14)  and workshop leaders (aged 20-29);
  • Managing and guiding the workshop leaders and/or volunteers;
  • Safeguarding the GFSA workshop materials;
  • Delivering social media content;
  • Assisting with fundraising activities;
  • Being the face of the organisation and first point of contact in South Africa;
  • Communicating and working closely with the GFSA director Jos Dirkx;
  • Having a flexible work ethic;
  • Engaging, enabling and proactively being a leader in running girls’ football workshops.

Requirements:

  • Proven project management experience;
  • Knowledge of gender issues in South Africa;
  • Writing skills;
  • Knowledge of following software: Gmail, Google.docs, skype, Microosft Excel and Dropbox;
  • Valid driver’s licence;
  • The GFSA project manager needs to be disciplined, flexible, communicative, and driven to empower young girls and to grow the organisation GFSA. You need to be hands-on, proactive, and able to think on your feet and be solution orientated.

Practicalities

  • Flexible hours (about one or two days a week);
  • R100 per hour;
  • Need own computer and telephone (with WhatsApp) and place to work from;
  • Preferably has access to a car.
