A research intervention between the Health Economics and HIV and AIDS Research Division (HEARD), Queens University, Canada, and FAMSA, Pietermaritzburg to reduce gender-based violence. An international collaborative team in the Sisonke District, KwaZulu-Natal will be implementing and evaluating a two-pronged service and community mobilisation intervention over five years, to reduce gender-based violence (GBV) and HIV vulnerability in South Africa. The intervention engages with government and NGO service providers and with members of the local community, to enhance service provision and to enhance respectful cross-gender communication and relationships.
FAMSA seeks to appoint an innovative leader with extensive community experience as Senior Project Officer, based in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.
The person will work to reducing gender-based violence and HIV.
This is a one-year contract position with FAMSA, Pietermaritzburg, renewable annually subject to performance and available funding.
- Experience in project management;
- Demonstrable commitment to addressing Gender based violence and HIV;
- Related tertiary education;
- Extensive experience in the development, health or social services sector;
- Fluency in English and report writing skills;
- Computer literacy at Microsoft Office level;
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Experience in staff development, training and management;
- Experience working in rural KwaZulu-Natal;
- Advocacy and networking experience;
- Fluency in isiZulu;
- Own transport.
