The Community Agency for Social Enquiry (C A S E) is a leading South African research NGO focusing on socio-economic and policy issues in support of social and economic justice. C A S E focuses on poverty and inequality, service delivery by government and NGOs, labour and the economy, youth and children, social security and gender.
Senior Researchers: Full-time/ Part-time
C A S E seeks to employ specialist Senior Researchers that are experienced research managers and supervisors of research staff in the focus areas highlighted above. Apart from undertaking the full spectrum of research activities, senior researchers will also be responsible for procuring research projects and donor funding to support the sustainability of C A S E. S/he will come with well-established networks to build partnerships and have highly developed quantitative and qualitative research skills and experience in managing and delivering on projects from inception to completion with evidence of writing high-level research reports. Supervising and mentoring researchers is an essential part of the job.
The successful candidate will hold at least a Master's Degree in the Social Sciences or related field. Excellent English and writing skills as well as a driver’s licence are essential. Demonstrable competence in applying quantitative skills to applied social research questions, the use of statistical packages and electronic data capturing experience will be a definite advantage. At least five years senior research experience including project management responsibilities and evidence of procuring projects and funding, outside of an academic environment, is a prerequisite.
C A S E also seeks to expand its database of contract/temporary/consultancy and associate partners to work with the organisation on specific projects with responsibilities similar to those of the senior researchers, but on an ad hoc and project basis.
