Capoeira Education Youth Education: Director

The Capoeira Education Youth Education (CEYA) is a vibrant small organisation that uses the Brazilian dance-art of capoeira as a youth development tool in Cape Town. CEYA actively works in areas where gangs are active and youth activities limited.

CEYA seeks appoint a senior capoeira teacher as Director, based in Cape Town.

The Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the day-to-day running of the organisation in close liaison with the organisation board.

Responsibilities:

• Organisational management;
• Capoeira class teaching;
• Mentoring youth teachers;
• Project management;
• Financial management and fundraising;
• Liaison with funders;
• Contribution to strategic planning.

 Requirements: 

• Minimum of five years experience as capoeira teacher;
• Recognised as a capoeira teacher by an international capoeira organisation;
• Experience teaching children;
• Minimum of five year experience in the NGO sector in a management position;
• Unendorsed Code 08 driver’s licence;
• Fluency in English and ability to communicate in Portuguese;
• Willingness to work in communities with difficult social and economic circumstances.
• Proven fundraising track record; and
• Capacity to plan and manage financial resources.
