Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries
The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries invites non-governmental organisations (NGOs), community-based organisations (CBOs) and other civil society organisations (CSOs) providing services to farm workers and dwellers to apply for registration for inclusion in the Vulnerable Workers NGOs, CBOs and CSOs database.
In July 2012, the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries held a Summit for Vulnerable Workers. At the summit, resolutions addressing four areas – working conditions, empowerment and training, social determinants of health, and security of tenure – were taken. The department is responsible for the coordination of the implementation of the resolutions of the summit through its Vulnerable Workers Programme. The resolutions are multi-dimensional and therefore require collaboration between the government, private sector, civil society organisations and other relevant groups or associations.
The purpose of the development of the database is to facilitate the coordination of services directed to Vulnerable Workers and to, in the long run establish the Vulnerable Workers’ NGO Forum. NGOs, CBOs and CSOs that wish to register on the database can contact Lungile Lusenga, Tel: 012 319 6335 or E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
