NASPERS LABS is an exciting new YOUTH DEVELOPMENT initiative to create opportunities for UNEMPLOYED YOUNG PEOPLE in the townships to become part of the South African economy within an “Internet café style of environment”. The programme provides a foundation for youth for individual personal development, confidence building and personal hope, along with both hard and soft skills. It is all about Growth in Confidence and Skills to be used in the workplace, and to create job opportunities through partner companies.
The culture is a vibey, interesting, multifaceted and energetic environment which is stimulating and provides for a sound base of skills from computer skills, digital skills, team involvement, and personal achievement for future career growth in the formal job market. Ideally all the Managers, Team Leaders, Coaches and support staff will portray the energetic culture and excitement that permeates this programme.

Have you held a supervisor or team leader position previously, where your leadership skills have come to the fore? Are you a good motivator and organiser who can incite others to action and ensure they are excited about being part of the programme, and able to grow within the company standards and objectives? Ideally you will be a young, energetic “culture champion” who buys into the mission and objectives of this great youth movement to improve the lives and career opportunities of those most vulnerable youth in our community.
We are looking for young managers to be a role model and lead by example in managing young people who are all motivated to improve lifeskills, ensure guidance and training.
This will be achieved through the proven diverse programme which engages in areas of interest in the youth of today such as :-
- Peer-to-peer youth cafés using the unique locally-developed socio-economic model that has been tried and tested already.
- Unlocking the potential of township economies by supporting and incubating new youth-driven micro- and small businesses to absorb young graduates.
- Personalised learning through an adaptive online learning and development platform, that includes practical and people skills.
In order to be considered for this Lab Manager position, you will probably have a Degree or Diploma and some work history in a supervisory capacity, and your attitude will be one of “growing” and “empowering” the people around you. You will have the capacity to work within the Naspers Labs culture and objectives, and the structure of development that has been proven to be successful in local communities already in Cape Town.
