University Research Co., LLC (URC) is managing the USAID funded Tuberculosis South Africa Project (2016-2021) which is funded through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The primary focus of the project is to provide technical assistance to the Government of South Africa to reduce TB infections at national, provincial, district, facility and community levels in South Africa. The TB South Africa Project is implemented in six (6) provinces in South Africa (Gauteng, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu Natal, Free State, Western Cape, Limpopo), across14 districts (City of Johannesburg, City of Tshwane, Sarah Baartman, OR Tambo, Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, eThekwini, uMkhanyakude, Fezile Dabi, Mangaung, Cape Winelands district, City of Cape Town, West Coast district, Waterberg and Sekhukhune district).
As part of the USAID Tuberculosis South Africa Project, URC is implementing a small grants program to fund innovative community-based interventions, implemented by local NGOs (non-governmental organizations) to increase the availability and demand for TB and TB-HIV services at community level. Activities being implemented through the grants program include, improving advocacy communication and social mobilization (ACSM) to increase demand and utilization of TB services, improving TB screening and active case finding and ensuring that patients are linked to care, strengthening treatment adherence support through directly observed treatment support (DOTS), expanding TB services for children and other vulnerable, as well as integration of TB/ HIV services,
To scale up the support provided at community level, the USAID TB South Africa Project is requesting applications from local NGOs located in the prioritized districts. The majority of grants will be designated for local non-profit organizations working at the community level, only a very limited number of grants will be available for research organizations.
Preference will be given to applications/organisations that will support activities in the listed TB priority districts of SA.
