SECTION27 seeks to apoint a dynamic and driven candidate Communications Officer to join the communications team and assume responsibility for researching, documenting and publishing the work of the organisation on various platforms.

The purpose of the position is to join the communications team and assume responsibility for managing and producing content for online platforms and the S27 website.
 
Responsibilities:             

  • Working with S27 teams to repurpose materials into accessible and user-friendly formats
  • Ensuring that S27 campaigns and advocacy work is effectively communicated
  • Moderate discussions and activity on online platforms
  • Produce social media content
  • Create new sections of website or work with developers to review and create new add-ons
  • Contribute to managing website features for online fundraising operations
  • Spread reach of website content using social media and Search Engine Optimization (SOE)
  • Learn new technologies and functionality that are beneficial to the organisation
  • Generate infographics and other multi-media to be used on website and other platforms
  •  Maintenance of electronic mailing lists and managing online advertising on online platforms
  • Provide monthly reports on quantitative and qualitative data including Facebook, Twitter and website

Requirements:

  • Education
    • A qualification in Digital Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related fields
  • Experience
    • 2+ years working experience
    • Experience producing content for online platforms
    • Graphics production and visual thinking experience
    • Knowledge of WordPress, Google analytics and Adwords
  •  ​Knowledge and Skills
    • Understanding of online communities and social media tools and channels
    • Understanding of broad the SA media context and how content works
    • Understanding of online community engagement
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Good visual thinking/visual literacy skills
  •  Languages
    • Fluency in spoken and written English
    • Knowledge of an African language is desirable
