Future Families is a nonprofit organisation established on 1st October 2010 which operates Tshwane South Africa. The organisation empower families to create their own future – for the sake of our children and for the collective future of South Africa. Future Families provides care and support to families with members who are infected and affected by HIV and AIDS to ensure that children in need have a safe, nurturing environment to grow into independent, empowered adults capable of planning their own future.

Future Families seeks to appoint a Social Worker for the HIV Peer Education Support Programme, to be based in North West Province

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise implementation of the HIV Peer Education Support Programme in Rustenburg, East London
  • Work in collaboration with sub-contracted partner in East London to plan, implement and monitor project deliverables
  • Train peer educators on basic counselling, group facilitation, HIV/AIDS, comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health, Survival Sex and Peer Education Skills
  • Raise awareness on HIV/AIDS/RH through supportive structures/groups
  • Coordinate with other national networks and NGO's for holistic support services to provide care and support to the infected/affected people
  • Develop tools for data collection and monitoring of the programme
  • Receive and review reports from peer educators and sub-contract partner in East London
  • Compile performance reports for UNHCR and attendance of meetings

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Social Work qualification and registered with SACSSP
  • Own vehicle, valid driver's license - Code 8 and preferably residing within Rustenburg
  • Minimum Two years’ work experience in Social Work focusing on GBV and HIV
  • Ability to work with asylum seeker communities and refugees
  • Communication, report writing, monitoring and evaluation and supervision skills
