Democracy Works Foundation
Democracy Works Foundation (DWF) in partnership with the in Transformation Initiative (ITI), is excited to launch the Democracy Works Academy- a youth leadership, civic education and dialogue programme to support young people in becoming engaged and critical leasers. The Academy is aimed at developing the capacities and networks of individuals who are committed to the development of an accountable and responsive values-based society. DWF shall recruit 30 participants to join the Academy in 2019.
To apply candidates must:
- Be between the ages of 19 to 25
- Have completed matric as a minimum requirement
- Have basic computer skills, including use of the internet and work processors
- Be a South African citizen or a permanent resident
- Be based within the Gauteng, North West, Limpopo and the Free State province
The DWA aims to support the development of democratic citizens who can make a real impact in their communities through the development of specifics skills, values, and knowledge. Upon completion of the academy, a fund will be made available for participants who are interested in implementing a community-based initiative.
This programme is driven by the vision of democracy as a continuous work-in- progress, with the academy being a vehicle to strengthen broader civic engagement in upholding the values enshrined in the South African Constitution.
