Consultant to conduct Let’s Talk trainings in Eastern Cape province

FHI 360 is an independent NPO serving in more than 60 countries, committed to resolve critical social problems throughout the world. FHI 360 was awarded a five-year Capacity Development and Support Program (CDS) in June 2014 to develop the organizational management, technical capacity and sustainability of local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and South Africa Government (SAG) departments, to sustain an improved, expanded, and country-led response to HIV and AIDS. Its mission is to improve lives in lasting ways by advancing integrated, locally driven solutions for human development.
FHI 360 (CDS) seeks to hire a Consultant Master Trainer to conduct Let’s Talk trainings in Eastern Cape province within five subdistricts: Alfred Nzo; Buffalo City Metropolitan; Oliver Tambo; Amathole & Chris Hani. The trainings will be conducted over a 5 months period (January 2019- May 2019). The Consultant Master Trainer will also support implementing partners to develop mentoring and coaching plans for supervisors to ensure quality implementation of Let’s Talk program. The training will cover; Phase one focuses on family and emotional strengthening with emphasis on problem solving, communication, emotional coping skills and expanded social support and Phase two mainly focuses on protecting the future of the adolescents where HIV and sexual reproductive health knowledge and skills are prioritized.
Competencies and Experience
The consultant should be in possession of the following qualifications and expertise: Master’s degree in public Health/ Social sciences or related sciences; at least three to five years’ relevant experience; experience in training youth facilitators on HIV prevention education curricula, including Let’s Talk program; experience working in the field of HIV and AIDS programs with focus on adolescent sexual reproductive health, orphans and vulnerable children and youth; additional experience in training of community based organizations in health and HIV prevention will be beneficial; knowledge and experience on evidence-based HIV prevention education programs; ability to perform challenging and complex work with limited supervision; strong professional acumen and judgment; writing high quality reports, computer literate with experience using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; proficiency in English is required & eligibility to work in South Africa.
