Picky Eaters Meat Merchants seeks to fill the following vacancies:

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER (Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban)

to work with the Chief Operations Officer and other members of the operations, sales & events team in the generation and management of a sustainable pipeline of work that reflects the current and anticipated business strategy and regional business plan. This will be achieved through interpreting market penetration data and following through with customer engagement, key accounts management, engagement with key stakeholders and strategic partner organizations with subsequent action plans to convert opportunities into tangible revenue streams. The business development manager will expand the existing network of contacts to sustainably grow the Picky Eaters business in line with forecast sales targets.

Key responsibilities of these exciting and challenging positions include:

  • Developing and leading the specialty meat sector and customer business including marketing plans with a typical horizon of 1 to 5 years
  • Working with data sets, to develop and manage an up-to-date understanding of the macroeconomic environment over the agreed plan period, using the information to consider the implications for existing and new prospects. Then develop an understanding of relevant prospects and how they are likely to respond
  • Building and establishing a network of contacts across target customers to bring opportunities into the business that can be converted into sales
  • Organizing and representing Picky Eaters at key strategic events to raise the company profile
  • Market intelligence reports to be updated with relevant data to track targets
  • Responsible for the sales process from initial solicitation through contract completion
  • Identifying and sourcing prospective new franchisees, pipeline maintenance and adherence to sales processes
  • Maintaining a level headed influence to achieve desired optimal operation and financial results

The Business Development Manager must meet the following criteria:

  • A 3-year degree or diploma in FMCG sales & marketing management
  • Minimum of 1-5 years’ experience in the aforementioned field
  • Experience in building commercial relationships to help deliver improved service and innovation to the customer
  • Existing network of contacts within the restaurants, hotels, catering and corporate campuses within either Cape Town, Johannesburg or Durban
  • Experienced in Enterprise Systems, Word, Excel and PowerPoint etc
  • Detailed knowledge of marketing and business development both strategic and tactical
  • Has strong verbal and written communication skills & organisational understanding
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
  • Ability to seek and develop new relationships to achieve strategic business objectives
  • Ability to convert client relationships into opportunities for the business.

 
SALES AND EVENTS STRATEGIST (Johannesburg and Durban)

To represent Picky Eaters to the customer for the purpose of selling meat, other related and beverage products, further promote goodwill while demonstrating first class customer service. Performs a variety of on-the-ground, marketing, promotion, advertising duties related to the sale and delivery of our product offerings, thus contributing to the efficient, safe, and effective profitable growth of the business.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Representing Picky Eaters product offerings to customers in a defined sales clusters
  • Keeping up on current product knowledge, features and benefits
  • At the start of each calendar year, determine your desired revenue goal
  • Determine average monthly sales volume required to meet your revenue goal
  • Calculate an average commission per unit sold
  • Divide your revenue goal by the average commission to obtain average monthly unit sales needed to meet your revenue goal.
  • Take seasonality into consideration.
  • Plan each day in writing. Any call backs, leads follow-up’s etc
  • Negotiating the deal for maximum gross profit. Follow management’s instructions explicitly
  • Making sure all deliveries are ready as promised
  • Assisting in handling customer complaints and concerns and making sure the problem is corrected to the customer and Picky Eaters satisfaction
  • Treating customers fairly, respectfully and with honesty
  • Learning and being familiar with Picky Eaters nature of businesses to align with the event niche
  • Seeking and building potential sponsorship investments and work hard to ensure a mutual beneficial arrangement for both Picky Eaters and potential Investor
  • Maintaining a level headed influence to achieve desired optimal operation and financial results
  • Helping in creating a positive brand image for minimal customer churn at all times
  • Maintaining a record-keeping system that enables you to identify and follow-up on every “hot” prospect

The Sales and Events Strategist must meet the following criteria:

  • A 3-year degree or diploma in FMCG sales & marketing and/or Events Sponsorship management
  • Minimum of 1-5 years’ experience in the aforementioned fields
  • Ability to speak effectively one on one
  • Ability to effectively listen and interpret customer needs & preferences
  • Has strong verbal and written communication skills & organisational understanding
  • Good understanding of local market conditions within food & beverages
  • Must be a self-starter and team player with ability to be led
  • Has physical stamina with ability to work flexible schedules
  • Restaurant & Catering Industry knowledge an ideal
  • Attention to detail, with numeracy skills
  • Treat all employees and customers fairly, courteously, with dignity and respect
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers, other employees and owners
  • Be early, flexible and available for scheduling of work hours
  • Demonstrate an interest in growing the Picky Eaters business

 
SALES AND SPECIAL PROJECTS (Cape Town)

To represent Picky Eaters to the customer for the purpose of selling meat, other related and beverage products, further promote goodwill while demonstrating first class customer service. Performs a variety of on-the-ground, marketing, promotion, advertising duties related to the sale and delivery of our product offerings, thus contributing to the efficient, safe, and effective profitable growth of the business.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Represents Picky Eaters product offerings to customers in a defined sales clusters
  • Must keep current on product knowledge, features and benefits
  • Keep abreast of competitive activity, companies and competitive products
  • At the start of each calendar year, determine your desired revenue goal
  • Determine average monthly sales volume required to meet your revenue goal
    • Calculate an average commission per unit sold
    • Divide your revenue goal by the average commission to obtain average monthly unit sales needed to meet your revenue goal
    • Take seasonality into consideration
  • Planning each day in writing. Any call backs, leads follow-up’s etc
  • Maintaining a record-keeping system that enables you to identify and follow-up on every “hot” prospect

  • Formulating of a Geospatial analysis to enhance locations for the food truck and franchise business, i.e. high-foot traffic areas in the city and surrounding areas
  • Developing of a new web-based online-transaction platform to enhance sales orders and product availability on time

The Sales and Special Projects must meet the following criteria:

  • A 3-year degree or diploma in FMCG sales and ICT services
  • Experienced in POS, Enterprise Systems, Word, Excel and PowerPoint etc
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in the aforementioned fields
  • Ability to speak effectively one on one
  • Ability to effectively listen and interpret customer needs & preferences
  • Has strong verbal and written communication skills & organisational understanding
  • Good understanding of local market conditions within food & beverages
  • Must be a self-starter and team player with ability to be led

EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE FOUNDER AND COO (Cape Town)

To be responsible for the provision of a high quality service that supports the business ambitions of Picky Eaters Food & Beverages.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • To have sole responsibility for diary management and organize both internal and external meetings and travel arrangements for the Founder and COO
  • Managing the scheduling of meetings for the Founder and COO, ensuring agendas are set where applicable
  • Acting as a ‘gatekeeper’ and managing the flow of contact to the Founder and COO, filtering all communications and exercising judgement with regard to the degree of urgency and high standards of tact and diplomacy in the referral of matters.
  • Supporting the flow of communication from the Founder and COO and maintaining a coherent brand message across all communications
  • Taking minutes and monitoring complex and sensitive actions for strategic teams, including but not limited to Shareholders and Directors of the Board, taking follow up action or advising of problems/delays as necessary
  • Providing an effective and supportive environment for the Founder and COO to carry out their duties
  • Building effective working relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Building working relationships and effectively liaising with the pool of existing virtual teams supporting business development and operations
  • Making decisions and initiate appropriate action on behalf of the Founder and COO or by directing to others
  • Managing private matters for the Founder and COO, including but not limited to medical/vehicle insurances/registrations
  • Capturing daily transactions onto an accounting system, including VAT journals for monthly reporting and submission to SARS
  • Acting as liaison with External Auditors for financial reporting compliance
  • Maintaining all source documents on financial transaction activities

The Executive Assistant to the Founder and COO must meet the following criteria:

  • University Commercial Degree and/or Customer Service background
  • Proficiency in English and Afrikaans. Indigenous languages are a plus
  • Experienced in Word, Excel and PowerPoint etc.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in the capacity of an Executive/Personal Assistant
  • Assistant in a multicultural environment
  • Excellent communication both oral and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and highly organized
  • Ability to work effectively and under pressure
