Masicorp: Finance Director

Masicorp works with the people of Masiphumelele, as well as key partners, offering opportunities through education helping individuals to uplift themselves out of poverty and work towards a sustainable livelihood. Focusing on the township of Masiphumelele (a community of between 40 000 and 50 000 people), Masicorp runs various education and skills development programmes for this community as a route out of poverty. The focus is on ECD initiatives for children aged 0-6, Maths, Science and English Learning Labs at Primary School Level, High School Maths & Science, Tertiary Education support, Community and School Sports Development, and Adult skills development programmes.
Masicorp seeks to appoint a Finance Director, to be based in Masiphumelele, Cape Town. 

Salary: In line with experience

Duration: Two to three days per week – For a contract period of 1 year


  • Preparation and presentation of various reports to the Masicorp Board
  • Interface with donors
  • Support and preparation of funding requests and proposal budgets
  • Training and development of financial support staff
  • Work alongside the Managing Director
  •  Assist with strategic plan, implementation and measure success
  • Establish accounting policies and document procedures ensuring regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met and comply with GAAP
  • Streamline finance procedures in line with operations ensuring expenses are within assigned project budget
  • Continually update financial paperwork and implement effective procedures
  • Administer banking arrangements.Build a relationship with Branch Manager to keep abreast of services available
  • Plan yearend audit
  • Monitor performance and encourage finance team to achieve high standard of output
  • Overall cash management on an ongoing basis
  • Work with senior teams to formulate annual budgets and targets
  • Overall control of all financial transactions and accountancy matters, including audit systems
  • Administer the preparation of the management accounts and ratio analysis ensuring data integrity and deadlines
  • Presentation of annual accounts with recommendations
  • Review of accounts and investigation of variances then setting recovery plans
  • Highlight possible risk
  • Oversee the payroll function
  • Ensure IT systems and processes are optimised


  • Experience in a related position
  • Capable of multitasking. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office and various accounting packages
  • Degree or diploma in Finance or Accounting
  • Ability to handle high levels of pressure and critical decision making
