Society for Family Health (SFH) is a South African affiliate of Population Services International (PSI), an international NGO network operational in over 70 countries. SFH in South Africa concentrates on issues of HIV/ AIDS. As part of their HIV/AIDS control efforts, SFH is using social marketing to motivate behaviour change with respect to consistent condom use, HIV testing and other safer behaviours.
Duties and Responsibilities:
System Support

  • Support all application systems used by SFH by maintaining, improving and attending to all system user problems
  • Performs integrity and availability checks of SFH systems
  • Check manual versus system data to make sure that there are no discrepancies in data flow from its inception up to the reporting stage
  • Ensure availability of servers and network to make sure that data is available as and when required for decision making by various program managers
  • Maintain system protocols by writing and updating procedures for in-house design systems
  • Ensure SFH has the right ITC infrastructure to carry out day to day business and recording program data
  • Manage relationships and contract with service providers

Systems Development

  • Develop Internal Systems for organisational &implementing partners to use
  • Conduct requirements analysis and specifications proposals for new systems
  • Design and implement the developed systems
  • Validate tests and implement the developed systems
  • Maintain the new internal systems
  • Analyse results in decision regarding system design which determines the system operation in terms of the process, data and hardware requirements

 Provider User Support

  • Provide first line user and telephone support to Head Office and Site Offices for:

             - Desktops and printers
             - Servers (database servers and main server
             - LAN (Switches, Hubs, Routers and patch panels)
             - Internet and email

  • Provide support within the allocated time frame
  • Provide support in accordance with policies and procedures

Manage ITC Infrastructure

  • Manage server system systems and ITC infrastructure around telecommunications
  • Ensure disaster recovery plans are in place in for business continuity eg. Back up server files,UPS for power failure, Synchronization,Data storage on cloud
  • Ensure implementation of ITC policies and procedure within the organisation
  • Provide assistance in other duties as directed by management


  • Minimum relevant 3 years tertiary or post graduate qualification in IT or equivalent
  • Atleast three years’ experience working in systems analysis
  • Experience in designing IT-led operational solutions utilising a range of computer systems
