Afrika Tikkun is an international nonprofit organisation that provides education, health and social services to children, youth and their families through centres of excellence in South African Townships. Its aim is to empower communities to develop new generations of productive citizens.

Afrika Tikkun seeks to appoint a Nurse Coordinator, to be based in Johannesburg.

Report to: PHC Programme Manager

The purpose of the position is to coordinate the delivery of all primary health care activities within target communities in line with Afrika Tikkun and Governing Departments

Responsibilities:

Administrative duties

  • Assist with Human Resource management
  • Ensure that leave forms are completed and reported Completion and filing of all related HR admin forms
  • Assist with financial Administration
  • Requisite for meetings
  • Stats collection
  • Weekly / monthly submission
  • Compilation of reports

Stock Ordering and Control

  • Keep register
  • Order stock per patient
  • Collect and distribute

 Controlling usage

  • Compilation agenda and minutes for meetings
  • Coordinate monthly admin day for CHWS
  • Compilation agenda and minutes for meetings
  • Coordinate monthly admin day for CHWS

Programme Development and in-training

  • Support the programme management in the further development of this programme to ensure maximum relevance Provide in-service training in support of all interventions required
  • Coordinate DOH initiated training

Patient Care

  • Assess and categories new referrals (child and Adults)

Children

  • Weight assessment
  • Road to health card
  • Assessment of critical ill child 

Developing a care plan for the patient
 
Direct care:

  • Appropriate medical intervention
  • Body wash
  • Wound care
  • Referral of patient

Requirements:

  • Matric Certificate
  • Two years’ experience as a registered nurse or staff nurse
  • Registered nurse / Staff nurse qualification
