Centre for the Advancement of Community Advice Office (CAOSA
The Dullah Omar School (DOS) for Paralegalism is a signature event of the Centre for the Advancement of Community Advice Office (CAOSA), which this year is being organized in partnership with the Social Change Assistance Trust (Scat) and the Black Sash. The DOS functions as a platform for developing new cadreship of community-based paralegals (CBPs). The School renews activism and re-ignites the spirit of volunteerism, helping to groom the leaders of tomorrow who will continue to fight for access to justice for the poor and marginalized in South Africa.
The DOS is run annually over a period of a week and offers learning streams designed to improve the capacity of CBPs in Community-Based Advice Offices (CAOs) to provide quality legal assistance and legal empowerment at the grassroots level, to advance access to justice.
The 2018 DOS will take place on 7th – 12th October in Johannesburg, and the theme is: Making Access to Justice Real in a Constitutional Democracy”.
