Chemonics International, an international development firm, seeks an office manager, bookkeeper, and driver for the USAID/Combating Wildlife Crime in Southern Africa Activity. This four-year program aims to support the shared commitments of the U.S. Government (USG), the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), member states, private sector partners, and civil society to dramatically decrease wildlife crime across Southern Africa. The purpose of the Activity is to coordinate learning and support strategic regional activities to address wildlife crime challenges. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. These positions will be based in Pretoria, South Africa.
Office Manager

  • Responsible for providing operational support to both operations and grants teams. This includes but is not limited to overseeing procurements, logistics, and administration, travel and lodging arrangements, and inventory
  • Support Bookkeeper in managing the office petty cash and filing, scanning, organization of files
  • Manage driver schedule and oversee logistical needs of office
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent required
  • Minimum one year of experience in a similar role (e.g., travel coordinator, human resources coordinator, or administrative assistant); three years of experience preferred.
  • Experience with international NGOs or contractors managing an office or program preferred
  • Fluency in English required


  • Receive and manage invoices from vendors to ensure timely payment by the project
  • Prepare documentation for all payment transactions, including but not limited to vouchers, checks and transfer forms. Ensure that appropriate documentation and approvals are obtained
  • Maintain the project’s accounting files system. Make sure all vouchers are in order, completed properly and have bank slips/copy of checks attached
  • Maintain the tax files for the project, recorded and paid in timely manner
  • Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Education, or related field
  • 2 years of demonstrated experience
  • Knowledge of USAID financial and management systems, regulations, and reporting requirements preferred but necessary
  • Fluency in English required


  • Drive project staff to and from project-related events, meetings, and activities
  • Valid driver’s license in South Africa
  • Strong defensive driving skills with a clean driving record
  • English proficiency preferred
  • Previous work on USAID or other donor-funded projects highly preferred
