Enhancing Care Foundation (ECF) is a not-for-profit organisation based in South Africa that provides key health system strengthening, capacity building, clinical and non-clinical research services. The vision is to be the premier institute of research and development in the fields of HIV, TB and other related diseases.

Enhancing Care Foundation seeks to appoint a Project Manager, to be based in Gauteng.

The purpose of the Project Manager is to apply professional principles, practices, and techniques to lead project teams and control project schedule, cost, and performance risks. This role has the ultimate responsibility for all assigned projects and manages client satisfaction, definition, planning, monitoring, and other aspects of a project. 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the understanding and communication of project requirements to appropriate team members and management of all requirements accordingly
  • Establish clear ownership for project tasks
  • Ensure that team members have the tools needed, and provide timely feedback
  • Coordinate and facilitate delivery of project objectives
  • Track progress and review project tasks to make certain deadlines are met appropriately
  • Assess project issues and identify solutions to meet productivity, quality and goals
  • Proactively communicate project status, issues and risks to management
  • Conduct regular status meetings with all stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with development staff and support staff to maintain thorough knowledge of the project needs
  • Define and maintain all implementation processes, manage implementation lifecycle
  • Coordinate documentation when needed
  • Troubleshoot technical issues when the need arises, and escalate appropriately as needed
  • Maintain timelines and target dates and ensure that these are clearly communicated to the project team
  • Organise and facilitate project planning meetings and reviews
  • Facilitate productivity by ensuring that the team has relevant tools to succeed
  • Find and work to remove development and project roadblocks and motivate the development team
  • Supervise the team to ensure that project deliverables are achieved according to project milestones
  • Ensure that interventions are planned and implemented for maximum impact, synergy and cost-effectiveness
  • Establish targets by interventions / project component and districts
  • Ensure compliance with established targets and quality of project outputs
  • Ensure proper management of project database, records, files and e-mail for audit and institutional memory
  • Oversee all project deliverables and ensure deliverables are met timely and with high quality
  • Submit accurate project reports
  • Monitor expenditures by interventions and ensure compliance with approved budget
  • Review expenditure reports monthly
  • Perform any other reasonably requested duty, within the scope of skills and ability

Requirements:

  • Medical or Social Sciences qualification at Masters level
  • Knowledge and understanding of TB is a key requirement of the post
  • Previous work experience in relation with TB in the mining sector would be an added advantage
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in project management within the health, TB or related fields
  • Experience in high level report writing is non-negotiable
  • Ability to travel and be in possession of a valid, unendorsed drivers’ license
  • Possess project management skills, with demonstrated ability to assess and address challenges in adhering to project timelines
  • Computer literacy Microsoft office (PowerPoint, Word) and Project, or similar PM software
  • Strong multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Demonstrate strong organisational skills and attention to detail as well as possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Considerable flexibility and ability to prioritise and shift priorities as business dictates is highly recommended
  • Possess and demonstrate verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to take initiative and work both independently and in a team environment
  • Travel to the various sites/project rollout venues as required
