Join AAI as Humanitarian Global Policy Advisor and you will be part of a global team helping people to use their own power to fight poverty and injustice. We are committed to women’s leadership in humanitarian response.
We want you to lead the strategic development of our humanitarian policies, particularly enabling women and young people to claim their rights during emergencies. This will include ensuring our humanitarian thinking and policy priorities are rooted in our country level responses and that we have a strong external presence in relevant humanitarian fora by developing relationships with key international humanitarian decision makers, movements, researchers and institutions. Your role will involve delivering systematic, updated and timely policy advice to countries and to support and, where appropriate, lead, external policy engagements and influence. You will also ensure strategic engagement with relevant stakeholders to inform our policy positions and recommendations, especially proposing alternatives that put women’s rights at the forefront of our approach. 

Ideally a graduate you must have in-depth knowledge of the international humanitarian system, standards and relevant policy debates as well as an understanding of global humanitarian architecture and how best to influence it. You will be an experienced lobbyist of UN agencies and politicians with a record of influencing international agreements too. Comfortable coalition building and developing networks in political or NGO settings.

To succeed you will be a committed to women’s leadership you will be a good communicator with an excellent command of English and strong interpersonal and presentation skills. You will also be flexible to travel extensively.
