Training and Resources in Early Education (TREE) is a nonprofit organisation that specialises in Early Childhood Development, resource and training.

TREE seeks to appoint a Monitoring and Evaluation Manager to be based in Durban, North, KwaZulu-Natal.

Salary: Negotiable

Report to: Senior Programmes Manager 

Normal Working Hours: 08:00am to16:00pm (30 minutes break)

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the development and implementation of comprehensive M&E knowledge management, toolkits including performance indicators and benchmarks for the organisation’s various work streams to ensure transparency and accountability in compliance with TREE’s strategy
  • Recommend and implement a systematic approach to integrate thematically defined results indicators in Area Programmes’ strategies and program formulation (input, output, outcome, impact)
  • Train TREE staff (Project coordinators, Area Coordinators and field practitioners including managers) on the use of Monitoring and Evaluation tools
  • In collaboration with the Senior Programmes Manager, coordinate final evaluations of Area Programmes’ strategies and capture best practices from work emerging from area programs levels.
  • Analyse bi-annual and annual reports and produce a synthetic and analytical progress report to guide management decision-making
  • Put in place systems and mechanisms for collecting data to monitor the development of defined indicators under the comprehensive reporting framework
  • Integrate periodic evaluations as an integral part of the Monitoring and Evaluation system
  • Implement a standardised Management Information System accessible to staff at all levels as required
  • Once a year, undertake an assessment to take stock and document lessons learnt in all areas of the organisation’s life
  • Document lessons learnt and good practices and share them with the broader organisation
  • Identify “centres of excellence” across the organisation and for each area of work, promote decentralised knowledge centres
  • In collaboration with the Unit Managers, support project coordinators in the promotion of internal mechanisms enhancing knowledge generation and cross learning on the various ECD related themes operative within the organisation
  • Organise annual learning events to share best practices between stakeholders within the ECD practice and promote the replication of documented best practices among partner organisations
  • In partnership with the other managers, oversee the successful design, implementation and completion of all MERK projects related
  • Streamline all systems, processes, tools, data analysis and ensure that staff is able to apply these
  • Evaluate the impact of the work TREE does and ensure the constant innovation and application of project methodology

Project Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and relationship building

  • Provide monthly operational reports to the Senior Manager, Programmes and ensure that MERK unit adjusts their programme approaches as required
  • Undertake all programme reporting as may be required by funders and participate as a key resource in the development of funding applications M&E Strategy aligned to proposal and reporting stipulations
  • Ensure M&E Tools work-shopped with teams and resources mapped out and provisioned for from the start
  • Timely monitoring of returns to ensure accuracy and quality
  • Timely monitoring of progress against operation plans and corrective action taken as necessary
  • Timely synthesis of data in line with reporting schedules

Requirements:

  • Matric
  • Driver’s license (code 8)
  • Relevant Qualification (M&E)
  • Minimum of three to five of NGO and M&E experience
  • Operational decision making skills
  • Planning and organisation skills
  • Time management and deadline driven
  • Attention to detail
  • Proactive and trustworthy
