Alternative Information and Development Centre (AIDC)
The Alternative Information and Development Centre (AIDC) is a Cape Town-based NGO that seeks to combine a critique of mainstream perspectives and practices with the offer of more socially just alternatives. Our focus lies with the intersection between economy and ecology. In this context we have developed three programme that advance a just transition to a wage-led, low carbon development path, namely
- Alternatives to extractivism and Climate Change;
- Economic justice;
- Building Counter-power
It does this by integrating research, popular education and movement support.
This year AIDC is accepting applications for its new internship programme. The internship is an exciting opportunity for young people who have just completed their studies and who are looking to make a contribution to advancing democracy and social justice.
The internship at AIDC will provide an enabling environment for the sharpening of intellectual tools through research and activism.
This internship includes the potential for studying, reflecting and discussion, as well as engagement with a wide-range of social movements including those from the trade union movement. In addition, AIDC has extensive national and international links with universities, research institutions and progressive NGOs.
The AIDC offers the perfect opportunity to gain experience in an activist space, and for combining personal growth while participating in collective struggles.
