Training Project Officer will be responsible for facilitating, coordinating and implementing programmatic interventions and activities within the Education Programme in Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces. The Training Project Officer will provide trainings to the youth clubs; CSOs and Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) practitioners on the identified subject aligned to the Early Literacy and Maths and Youth Engagement and Socio Economic Empowerment.
Key responsibilities
Coordinate the implementation of the project activities in Limpopo and Mpumalanga Province:

  • Liaise with and support the consultant responsible for the needs and feasibility study;
  • To liaise with relevant government departments, schools, FET colleges, community stakeholders and private sector representatives to initiate and support partnerships and collaboration and participate in established Education forums
  • Support the Department of Basic Education to organise project Steering Committee meetings, draft invitations and minutes, develop concept documents;
  • Draft Terms of Reference related to the implementation of project activities;
  • Organise meetings with partners to develop work plans and monitor the implementation of project activities;
  • Compile and/or Produce regular progress reports for internal and external purpose, case studies and human interest stories related to the project implementation.


  • Assist in preparation of training materials and manuals and help to conduct necessary training and workshops at different levels as and when required in the process of implementation of the projects.
  • Provide mentoring and follow up support to participants and partners / groups who have been trained to deliver Save the Children interventions;
  • Develop and drive specific training initiative including standards, curriculum, training events and ongoing support
  • Undertake regular visits to the field to understand the ground situation and take necessary actions for improvement in providing quality training standards
  • Organise and coordinate vocational and entrepreneurship skills development trainings, as well as Early Childhood Development training in accordance with project commitments
  • Support youth CSOs and ECCD centre to develop learning and teaching resource banks 

Project Administration:

  • Support the project partners, update information about new research and events, monitor the joint work plan and coordinate the implementation of joint activities;
  • Organise and participate in joint activities such as capacity-building trainings and community dialogues with partners;
  • Support Project related procurement
  • Document and evaluate experiences and lessons learnt for purposes programmatic improvement, learning, sharing, advocacy and reporting.

Person Specification: Essential

  • Completed Matriculation
  • Excellent skills in MS Excel and Word
  • Experience in working within the INGO/NGO sector
  • Experience in working with other civil society organisations and government counterparts

Person Specification: Preferred

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Development Studies, Psychology, Social Work, Business Administration or any relevant equivalent qualification
  • Knowledge of M&E concept and tools
  • Experience in developing case studies, realising concept documents and literature reviews
  • Experience in facilitation and coordination of Trainings   
  • Experience in developing work plans and results-based management concept and tools
