Child Welfare Durban and District is a nonprofit organisation that provides a wide range of services to children, their families and communities in the Durban and Umlazi areas. The organisation’s core concern is to protect children who are at risk.  This includes neglected, abused, abandoned and orphaned children, a large majority of whom are either infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. 

Child Welfare Durban and District seeks to employ Social Workers Adoptions Team based at its Head Office in Durban.

Salary: R 144 000.00 yearly

Responsibilities:

  • Efficient and thorough report documentation
  • Facilitate permanency planning for all referred children
  • Ensure permanency goals are expeditiously managed and achieved
  • Conduct individual children needs assessment and facilitating the provision of the appropriate range of clinical and concrete services as needed for each child
  • Access and assess foster parents for potential suitability as adoptive parents
  • Assist foster and adoptive parents in managing children placed in their homes
  • Assist foster parents in their efforts to work with birth families
  • Provide direct counseling and case management services to foster and adopted children and their families
  • Complete of all State regulatory and Organisation’s requirements in accordance to the Children’s Act
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders as needed for permanency planning and other matters
  • Prepare comprehensive psycho-social reports and participate as a treatment team member in the organisations case review meetings
  • Supervise visits between children and birth families, and arranges sibling visits
  • Undertake all home visits as required in case management

Requirement:

  • Degree in Social Work
  • SACSSP Registration and Receipt
  • Minimum three years Social Work Experience
  • Computer Skills
  • Professional written and verbal skills
  • Valid Driver’s License
