St. George’s Cathedral known as 'the people's Cathedral' for its role in the resistance against apartheid, is the oldest cathedral in Southern Africa and the mother church of the Anglican Diocese of Cape Town.

St. George’s Cathedral seeks to appoint a Finance & Accounting Administrator to be based in Cape town.

Working hours: 09:00 to 17:00, Monday, Wednesday and Friday
Start date: 01 February 2018

Finance Administration

  • Record financial transactions
  • Bank
  • Pay invoices
  • Pay and adminstrate wages, salaries, PAYE/UIF, pension 
  • Administrate all staff leave 
  • Prepare annual tax reconciliation 
  • Insurance administration
  • Municipal accounts administration
  • Administrate income streams

Management Accounting

  • Prepare financial statements
  • Prepare the cathedral budget, monitor expenses / income vs. budget and cash flow
  • Report and present to the Cathedral Council
  • Engage with the fundraising and pledge committees
  • Monitor the Cathedral investments        
  • Coordinate the preparation of the Annual Audited Financial Statements for the Annual Vestry
  • Recommend governance and compliance policies and oversee implementation in consultation with the Operations Manage


  • Accounting, Finance and /or Commercial at tertiary level, or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of latest electronic accounting packages i.e Pastel; Attentive to detail
  • Systematic, thorough and able to problem-solve
  • Five years in the Accounting, Finance and Commercial field
